Jane Riley ~ Artist Profile

Jane Riley grew up living beneath the spectacular Southern Alps at Fox Glacier.  Here magestic peaks thrust  thousands of metres above foothills blanketed with natural rainforest.  A favourite tourist destination within New Zealand.

Extensive overseas travel has amplified Jane’s appreciation of the peace and beauty within the South Westland environment. She lives and creates at a remote family seaside bach where she draws inspiration from the seen and unseen, considering herself fortunate to live “The life of Riley!”

Jane’s artworks reflect her love of the natural environment. Sunrises above the alps and sunsets dipping into the Tasman Sea are constant sources of inspiration. As are the occasional auroras that apprear in crystal-clear starlit nights.

Riley’s paintings are original works of beauty ~ with enormous amounts of passion and flair.  Deliberate blending of flamboyant brush stroke with rich oil colour on canvas. Textures of sands, gemstones, shells and other natural materials are often incorporated. Design components are strengthened by astute use of colour and depth in Jane’s unique contemporary artworks.

"The thoughts we choose to think are the tools we use to paint the canvas of our lives."  Louise Hay
